Freaking Twilight (spoilers)

The following contains many spoilers to the new Twilight movie. You have been warned.

So this is a more or less impromptu review of Breaking Dawn, Part 2, the new Twilight movie. Specifically just the ending because a lot of the rest of it was more or less a bit of a blur to me. TO be quite honest I was just happy to see that Kirsten Stewart was... for the most part kinda believeable troughout, but the ending, oh gosh they had a chance to fix the series...

So the way it happens, I'll paint a picture the best I can:

So the bad sparkly vampires are about to ave a showdown with the good sparkly vampiresand the werewolves. The bad sparkly vampires are doing this because they think that a child has been turned into a sparkly vampire by the good sparkly vampies, they don't know that she is ha;f human and will grow up and be able to control herself yet, fine whatever. When it comes down to it though the bad sparkly vampires create some commotion and one of the good sparkly vampires charges into battle only to get decapitated, and trust me he was actually an important character that died. From there an actual epic battle ensues, sparkly vampires are behaving like actual vampires for once. I mean it heads are rolling, cools stuff is happening, actual tragedy that happens in a story is taking place.

Bella, the man defenseless female, has actually become something.... not so meek and silly, she actually rushes in and is kicking some serious but, at one point a big canyon is created by this guy with special powers or something, and Bella actually like... Sparta kicks someone into it. She literally Sparta kicks them in! (video reference below)

But then after all the insanity, after how much more awesomely different it was from the book, after Bella actually helped kill the main bad sparkly vampire.... we fade back to the previous scene, all of it was a vision one of the good sparkly vampires with future seeing abilities showed the leader of the bad sparkly vampires.

And from there we go back to the ending that happened actually in the book, which I guess gets points for loyalty to the original? Either version still contains foot face robert paterson. I guess you can tell me what you think in the comments... and if this spoiled anything for you, remember you were warned well advance.

Star Wars 7, 8, and 9

So I may catch a little flack for my opinions here, so be warned.

Recently Disney purchased the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas, something that they have honestly been wanting to do for a very long time now it seems. I mean, they have a star wars themed weekend once a year at Disney land for the gods sake.

I hear a lot of anger at this issue as Disney could only want to make more Star Wars related stuff, that would mean more movies obviously, and that.... well that means episodes 7,8, and 9. To be completely honest here, as a Star Wars Fanatic, I want to be completely okay with it. On one hand, it is Disney and they have screwed up a lot of stuff. (they produced at least 2 and a half good Pirates of the Caribbean movies didn't they?)

I should also point out that the books the franchise is based on do stretch out to the third trilogy, the original story does exist, so they are not just making up something as they go along, as for the revival possibly of Darth Vader... I'm not sure if there is any merit to that, but I will say if they do that then it will be kinda silly.

Stress makes us do Silly THings that I have been having, a funny story for all of you

The late nights continue on and on. The "crunch" as mentioned in the last blog has been effecting me less mentally. Slightly more physically. There is still a lot of stress, as a senior but that should come as absolutley no surprise.

To lighten the mood, a funny story for all of you. Yay! Today as a senior I had some priority to register for classes at noon today. I was at a meeting today with my laptop at 4 when I remembered this. In a panic I excused myself from the meeting and sprinted for my dorm room leaving the laptop which I now type upon there. I needed the code in order to get online to register for classes before the space filled up. Panicked still I shoved my way back into the room to the laptop and type in my code.

The one class I absolutely need to get into... I look at it's listing while finding it hard to breath. Out of the 18 spots available.... only one other had been filled.

What happened next involved a lot of swearing that I don't find appropriate to post on this blog.

End of the year crunch

So, I am not sure how long there is left in the school semester, maybe about a month or so. I don't really keep track. But as the minutes go by the pressure just sort of mounts and mounts doesn't it? Procrastination and a giant work load are a combination that don't go very well together. Something that really should be obvious to me and/or anyone else who lives their life as a college student.

The best thing to do in times like this I feel is just to buckle down and get things done. For me that means a surprisingly small amount of studying. What id does mean is a load of physical work. A large 8 to 10 page paper and multiple art projects. I'm not trying to use this blog as a means to complain or vent.... okay so maybe I am but my point is still valid and this kind of information is the thing that needs to be talked about. For now I bid you goodbye and hope that someone takes something out of this little blurb of text up on the Internet.

Book Covers to Music

So around this time I am feeling the time crunch pressuring me to stop procrastinating and start getting things done, I have understandably feel behind with my blogs here. Ah but there is a hidden silver lining to speak of. What is it I speak of, INSPIRATION!... from another aspect of my studies here at SUNY Plattsburgh. My final paper for an advanced art history class requires me to pick a contemporary artist and write an  eight to ten page paper on some aspect of them. I have chosen my Idol in terms of graphic designers, Chipp Kidd. What he is known for is his book covers, and more than likley you have seen more than one of them in your lifetime. The original cover and logo for Jurassic park comes from the inner workings of his mind. Yet despite all this, it is not even close to the subject I want to speak about with you all.

In my research I recently discovered my favorite artist of all time to be a musician as well. You'll have to understand my surprise in coming across the music video below, don't get me rong I actually love the song, but the fella down there wit the round glasses, I still find it hard to believe that is him really singing, and it is just amazing. To hear this guys general attitude and speaking voice, to hear this kind of music just has that effect to me.

Haunted Hallway wants you!

So this coming Saturday, not the one in which this blog post is taking place will feature a lovely shamless promotion for yearly attraction at SUNY Plattsburgh. The haunted hallway. I take special care to promote such a thing because as a member and officer of the anime club, I will be helping to to set up and possibley even partake in some of the fright making. It starts at 9:00pm this Saturday, the anime club I mentioned will be running two of the rooms there.

Be warned I wont give you the specifics but us anime geeks no how to scare people.

Brief Review of Paranormal Activity 4

This blog once again will contain spoilers just like my last one on the same movie, so just to let you know, you have been warned.

Okay so last week I made a post in anticipation of this movie coming up. Paranormal Activity 4. (Click here for context.) This will be more or less my reaction and/or review of said movie, broken down systematically.

CharactersOkay so in terms of characters there was one, and I count one surviving member of the family from the second movie, the young daughter whose name I don't quite remember I was hoping to see in this, well she wasn't. Hunter and the main female lead from the first however were, so I suppose that does add some interest to it. I was afraid if anything that I would be annoyed by the main female, the young teenage girl wo could be any number of things, thankfully she was not the helpless Bella Cullen type and did to a degree know how to go about and take care of herself for the most part, when called to do so.

Story: Typical of this movie you are more or less left off with a cliffhanger which does in fact leave room for yet another sequel. Through out the movie there was sufficient buildup for what happened, but what happened at the end was confusing in itself kinda. You have the girl escape from the house while the demon possessed woman is charging and breaking trough the door to get her and, as implied earlier in the movie actually, not attempt to kill her but capture for a virgin sacrifice or something. She escapes and you think she is safe (this is what the spoiler warning is for, last chance) then all the sudden there is this massive crowd of other demon possessed women ready to pounce, she turns back around and the one that was chasing her is rigt in her face for te one last scary moment, roll credits. It leaves either desire and anticipation for Paranormal Activity 5, which trust me, at this rate you know they are going to do, or a slight disappointment, which is initially what I had felt to start. My opinion has changed slightly thinking about it.

Scare FactorThe scary moments in this film were there as they should but but all I can say is that depending on who you are certain moments scare more than others. It had it's fill of moments which only seemed like something bad was going to happen when it was just something like a perfectly normal person popping up on the screen and yelling "boo!" Other times there were things that at least made me jump slightly. All in all enough scary to be an entertaining movie.

OverallAll in all it had it's enjoyable moments. The best I can really say is for you to go and check it out for yourself. It was worth the six dollars I paid at my home town small theater and I think I still would have willingly paid a little more at a more expensive cinema.

Paranormal Activity 4

So to anyone who is reading this be warned as below there will more than likely be spoilers.

But anyways, I did want to talk about this movie. It is horror movie season and as promised there wont be a single week without mentioning something about Halloween at least once. I can understand with such a season they want a big name film such as Paraormal activity to be released to fit the season. But this leads me to question something, is this another classic case of over doing it with the sequels?

I'll post a Youtube link tot he trailer below and you can watch for yourself. The movie appears to have the main cast be a  completely new family that has virtually no real relation, blood or otherwise to the families from the first three movies. With only I think two to three characters from the originals.

It makes me wonder if they are just trying to force this last one to be able to happen. Granted the all the others have sort of left us at cliffhangers, but do you think realistically that it almost might be better that way? Don't get me wrong I am going to watch this movie still, but I actually like the original three, and I am worried that they are going to screw it up wit this fourth and.... possibly final one? Tell me what you think.

Getting cold aint it?

So hey now, as I look around and walk outside it is becoming more and more apparent that the colder season are upon us. Heading back home for the week end this become especially obvious for me. Good old little Tupper Lake does just so happen to get much colder than Plattsburgh does in my opinion. I unfortunately like do not have any other from town to agree with me but yeah it's worth mentioning anyways.

Nothing like stacking firewood I think just simply makes it more apparent that it is going to be getting cold soon, and it makes me remember a few funny things about this section of the calender. In particular it puts my last years dorm mate into mind. He was from Dubai, and for that matter he hung out with a lot of people who were from warmer climates... and there were times where they just hated me, because while they bundled up in their winter jackets and such I was always the one feeling perfectly comfortable in just a hoodie. Understandable that someone from the Caribbean would find it cold at the first sight of winter snow.

Tell me what you think of this tough? Are yo a polar bear Like me? Gone just be wearing your hoodie until late November early December? Does your home town make Plattsburghs cold temperature seem extreme or laughable. If you are a student at another school, just compare tat yo your won hometown. And if somehow you are reading this and not even a college student.... well then the question does not work and I am very sorry.... not really though.

This is Halloween

So it may only be the first week or two into October but hey, you know what? Malls and Wal-Marts all over America are more than likely already putting up Christmas decorations, so I think I am safe to start talking about Halloween, which can be argued by some as a more awesome holiday that X-Mas for one reason or another. When your a kid and getting without have to give, that's one thing, when you are an adult and have money, at least my opinions shifted a little.

Boys and Girls of every, would you like to see something strange, come with us and you will see, this our town of Halloween.

That bit up there was a little celebratory side paragraph. Back on subject though, I just love everything about the season.... well almost everything. The excuse to eat more candy than would normally healthy, horror movies both good and bad, to be able to dress up like a freak or monster of some sort, running around and just having fun, the general attitude of the season. Not to mention some other activities I

don't necessarily have time or energy here to explain why.

So anyway where do you wanna take it from here? What's your favorite part of Halloween? Favorite thing
you have ever dressed up as? Maybe even enter the Halloween vs Christmas debate... and fail if you argue for Christmas ha ha ha!

----->NOTICE! After saying that last line in his post the blogger hopped on a broom and flew away letting out an evil cackle. Do not panic if you see this man flying through the night sky. Just let him do his thing don't worry because he will at most swoop by flying really close without even touching you.<-----

Late Night madness again, but with a friend?

So I sit here before my tablet at roughly six in the morning proving myself once again to be true insomniac. Though it may not have been the case if not for a fellow dormmate. Here in the study room, one which every floor here in banks hall has, I may very well have only  been awake till about 3am. As I was about to pass out from boredom or maybe from actually bein tired... I hear the sound of an ice cold energy drink clicking down on my desk in the room. I don't remember the exact word but it was along the lines of him saying it's nice to not be the only night owl around here. As a result of the energy drink can to nice pictures below I am awake here having finished , my reading and typing a blog surprisingly coherently. I guess it goes to show that we as a species still habeas each others backs? Then again I could be over analyzing it. Our species did also invent thiamin horrible thing callers auto correct that is likely still making me seem like I desperately need sleep still. That and you know, countless other atrocities. It's just nice to think positively over belittle things every now and then.

Nightcore anyone?

So as someone who spends way too much time on the Internet, I come across a lot of uniquque and interesting things. One of these places I come across these things is YouTube. And one of these things I discover in these places I visit is a style of music called Nightcore. If you can't appreciate Techno I can imagine you already hating this. Anyways to define it simply Nightcore in it's songs typically featurea fairly sped-up melody, a very fast fast rhythmic beat, and a much higher than normal pitch. A lot of it is more or less not performed by major artists. It is almost always, more or less a remixed version of an already popular songs. I know some of you are cringing, but hey you never know, just maybe try the random sampling I am giving below.

What you really want to do is find the ones that do more than just plug the song into sound editing softare and speed it up. Because anyone can do that by downloading free sound editing software called audacity. There is good stuff out there where more serious audio mixers actually create good trance/techno songs this way.

Politics.....Red, Blue, or Green?

I want to give a mention to something I saw here at school once more, as this appears to be slowly becoming that this blog is about. But anyways, outside in the area inbetween Meyers art building and Angel college center a politician of the Green party was oit with a microphone and speaker, taking a very open and personal approach. His name was Don Hassig and he is currently running for congress. Personally I try not to associate with Amy political party whatsoever.... combination into one word intended there.

He was as a party of his strategy I guess simply asking people to come up and talent him. Like I said, very personal approach. It's something politicians need to do more often. Point is India just that..... and in talking to him, I gotta say he seemed intelligent enough, had his facts straight, and seemed to know what he was actually talking about when he spoke. I wouldn't say I'm about ready to bow down and start worshiping the guy, but I can honestly say I would give him a chance. Whither virtually every major political office held by a democrat or republican..... we could do for some variety I say.

That being said I am not gaping to spend any of anytime explaining his policies. If you follow politics then you should have some idea what he is like being a Green party nominee. If you don't then below will be some links about him,  leaving it up for one tp decide if you so choose to in any way.

Here, here, and here for all your information.

Duck tape fixes Everything

Just thought this woulbe a funny little second blog for the week. I come from a relatively small town compared plattsburgh. Much smaller actually. Big city folk like to reefer to us as rednecks in little ole Tupper Lake. Jeremy I come for scholar in Plattsburgh and this picture shows  what I get below. Duck tape glass repair. Coming up until now I used to think was the stuff of mythology and legend. Yet here it is, only the ultimate redneck does repairs like this, and what do you know they work for such a prestigious university as the one I am attend ing now.

Post via Video, About Art!

The above is a blog done in the form of a video, otherwise known as a vlog, or v-log. I wonder if this is going to start a trend with the class.... perhaps watch and find out because all other content associated with the text ends with the period at the end of the sentence.

SUNY Plattsburgh self promotion

So yesrerday, at a time a few hours later that my earlier... less coherent blog post I find myself catching the tail end of the schools "Graduate school fair" or whatever you want to call it. Personally... I find the concept of grad school as just one last chance for the system to squeeze more money out of you. We are unfortunately not here to talk about that, another time maybe. What I do want to share with you is something that seem a little silly, yet also makes a lot of business Spence for the school in question in the title of this post.

I was walking around and as you may be able to tell already in a pessimistic mood about the whole fair taking place on campus. I am seeing schools that I whenever heard of nor plan to attend. I feel no I'll will towards the people behind the tables because in the end, they are just doing their jobs. We all gotta make a living don't we? I ain't got no problem with them. What sets me off, first in a bit of confusion, followed by amusement.

As shown below in a poorly taken picture on my tablet there were I  fact 3 to 4 tables promoting the school that was putting on the fair. If this shows anything I think that it at very least reveals that schools are after our money still in the grand scheme of things. In this case, it's the school knowing it has you and trying not to loose you to somewhere else. They can spout off about how they want what Oscar best for the sstudents but I'm the end other is still a business and they have shown that this fact is not forgotten. I think maybe I should perhaps stop at this rate. For the silent fact that I commend you for even reading this far, and that I may soon become suspicious that I should be expected to be silenced on the matter with a laser dot sight on my forehead or something ifni don't shut up. Either Wayne hope have enjoyed the ridiculousness .

The late night college madness

So I currently sit in front of my computer right now at about 5 am with an art history book plopped open trying to make scene of the words of a Mr. Clement Greenberg. I personally find the guy to be a bit pretentious in his opinions as a modern art critic but that is for the moment beyond the point of this blog post you are currently occupying your time with. Some hopefully less boring things to read.

I find the madness that plagued the end of my Junior semester here at Suny Plattsburgh with a not so welcome feeling from my side of things. On top of this blog which is in need of maintenance I am guaranteed  at least 3 short art history essays a week. I earn the advanced writing credit that Denis Costanza says his class gives me. Just as well I should mention 3 upper division art courses to deal with. It is more than it sounds trust me.

I wouldn't mind this say if  I knew if I was not the only one? I mean we are about 2 1/2 weeks into this semester so I m assuming the newness is waring off by now, just wasn't expecting this intensity quite yet. I'm also wondering if my room mate has woken up in the middle of the night wondering what the hell am I doing in front of my laptop still. Certainly didn't take any breaks to play Minecraft or anything like that... or did i? (No.) The stress has to be coming back for some already is what I am trying to say, possibly seniors and up in particular.

Can't claim I didn't have didn't have days like sung about above over the summer, but dang did I do some cool things in that game. I am getting distracted again it seems though. Please if you will, share your thoughts and feelings and such. and until until  next I see you all, I think I have to convince my now possibly waking up room mate that I'm not crazy and havent been up all night.

So... this is blogging

Okay so, it appears this may or may not be my first real introduction into blogging. On the off chance that this thing gets followers or readers for the class this is for, I'll go ahead and say that this blog is for the sake of a college level journalism class. I'm not going to lie, being required to start up a blog for such purposes was not what I had expected. What I did expect was a class more oriented around some sort of interactive design with Adobe Flash, given the name of the class, "Interactive Journalism."

So the point that I guess I am trying to make is that I am a Graphic Design student, and here I am in a more Journalism oriented class. Needless to say my face sort of looked like this when I found out.

I know that is just old right? In terms of how fast something gets old when it on the Internet at least. If you haven't figured it out yet this is pretty awkward and new to me. I mean for the url I made it something that I use for a screen name for more casual websites like Youtube. At the moment I can't really say if this "blog" is going to have any sort of theme or if it will just be whatever random subject I feel like talking about, which could be argued as a theme anyways. For now I hope you enjoy reading and are maybe looking forward to reading what I have to say over the next few weeks, and maybe even beyond that.
